I GOT SUSPENDED FROM BOARDING SCHOOL – STORY TIME

Hello everyone and welcome to LindseyVlogs. I am Lindsey and I am here to do a Story Time vlog. There…. eyshiudskj I really need to become a better public speaker. I have a book. This one. Ted Talks. Presentations. I should probably read it. God damn it, I forgot to close the window. Just ignore, ignore all of that. So, anyways, I wanted to do a story time blog because… you guys don’t know me, at all, basically. And one of the things you don’t know about me is that I went to boarding high school. For one year. Yes, just the one year. Because…. It was a boarding arts high school. And I am not going to drop the name of it. There are basically two in the country so you figure that out. So when I went to this boarding arts school, I was a film major. It was a pretty freaking cool school to be honest. I mean, think about when you are in high school and… you get to leave your parents behind and get to live with a bunch of other kids around your age making art for half the day and then going to school for the other half of the day. So that was really exciting for me and kind of sparked my… Well… Was the beginning of my obsession of film and video. I got into the school and got a scholarship to go to the school… because again it’s a really expensive school. A lot of the people I went to school with were very very wealthy. There were a few of us that had scholarships. Quite a few of us that had scholarships. But for the most part, everyone was extremely wealthy. They came from very prominent families… Around the United States and sometimes abroad. We did have a whole lot of international students, that’s for sure. But, my story time is not about me going to that school… It is about the… how can I say this… I guess the… systemic… is that a word? The systematic issues that existed at that school… during the time that I was going there. I don’t know what the situation is now… So I can’t speak for what is happening at that school currently. I have heard that it’s completely different from when I went there. But, when I went there, it was all about the money. So, why they tried to do was this. They would let you into the school or accept you into the school… And then, especially the wealthy kids… They would catch you doing something that you shouldn’t be doing… Again, it’s a bunch of kids, in the woods… By themselves… Obviously things happen… They would try to catch you doing thing or make you confess or try to make you confess to “crimes” inside of the school. And if you did confess, or somehow they had proof that you did something wrong… You would get “separated”, is what they called it. So separated is basically being suspended from school. They would make you leave campus. If you lived nearby, they would make you go home. If you didn’t, they would send you to someone’s how who lived off campus and wasn’t associated with the school. Other than, taking in suspended students. And then you had a week or so to think about what you did wrong, write a letter to the school telling them why you should be let back in, and then you would sit in front of a group of three of your peers… and three of your teachers and explain to them why you should be let back in. Long story short, I did get separated at one point from school. Basically, I got caught because I was trying to be a good person. Which is such a terrible thing to say… But, I was 15, and I was along and… Alone away from my parents, away from… a lot of supervision to be honest. I ended up drinking with a couple of my friends. One of which got way way too drunk. I could tell that that was happening and I kept telling her to stop drinking, you’re drinking too much. It was Bacardi 151. So if you’ve ever had that before, it’s terrible, it’s disgusting and she drank way too much of it. So I got kind of drunk, she got completely trashed. And she had already been separated from school. So that means that the next step for her if she were to be caught was she was going to be expelled. Part of her separation agreement, which is what happens if they do let you back into the school… Was that she had to be in her dorm between specific hours every evening studying. We went back to the school and it was time for her to be back in her dorm studying… Drunk Lindsey decided it would be a good idea to write a letter as her writing, “I’m sick, this is why I am in bed. Please do not disturb me.” Something to that extent. So I wrote that letter, went to someone else’s dorm to hang out for a little while… and continued to go and check on her, give her water, make sure she was ok. And ended up entering the room when all of the dorm parents were surrounding her realizing that she was completely trashed. So as a friend of hers, and the fact that I went in to check on her… They ended up breathalyzing me and a bunch of people that were not involved in the situation at all. And that is how I got separated. My alcohol level was something ridiculously low. I was completely sober by this point. My parents obviously got extremely angry with me. It was a very very bad situation. I didn’t really think I was going to talk about that in this video… Because what I actually wanted to talk about was… Yes, we did do some bad thing in boarding school that we probably shouldn’t have done as underage children. I got separated, got back into the school and all was well. And for the most part all was well except… that I was hanging out with the kids that the Dean of Students did not like and wanted out of the school. For whatever reason. Actually, that’s a lie. I know the reason. Because I heard the rumors. And as someone who knows who this guy is… I totally believe it. At the time the school was packed. They couldn’t accept anyone else into any of the programs. So the only way to do that would be to expel students and then… and then they could get more students to come in. And if you were expelled from the school, they took your tuition and you didn’t get it back. So they were making more money expelling students and letting more students into the school… than they would be to let the students who got in, in the first place… stick around and finish their school year. So this person who got caught drinking with me… Ended up getting expelled. But because… This is obviously my opinion… Because, her parents, or one of her parents were very very VERY wealthy, paid the school off and she got back in. But after that, some really funny stuff happened. We started getting… We as in my friend circle. We started getting called to the Dean’s office. For offenses that supposedly were on video. And they had proof that we did these things. Or were about to do these things that did not exist at all and were completely made up. Which was hilarious! And so the best one that I have is… is that they called me and a few other people into the Dean’s office… and said that some guy… I don’t even remember the name they said… Who, know one knew this guy, or knew anyone by this name. Had called the school and said that we were planning a “Forest Party”. Whatever that means. So we were planning a “Forest Party” that was going to involve drinking and probably drugs. Who knows?! I don’t know. We were planning a “Forest Party” and he wanted to let the school know in advance so that it didn’t happen. Because he was invited to it. Because that makes absolutely total sense that would want to get a party removed from existence. So everyone was brought into his office one by one questioned about this forest party. And of course we were all like “I have no idea what you are talking about. I have no idea who this person is.” I don’t even know what a “Forest Party” is but thanks for the idea. Because that did seem like a good idea at the time. Hey! Forest party… sounds good. But that never happened so… He was like “Oh I have proof this guy called me and I know it was you guys and blah blah blah blah blah blah blah….” And then nothing ever came of it and we heard nothing about it ever again. So those are the types of things that would happen on a weekly or bi-weekly basis… where he would call us in and say, “Hey, I got you on camera in the dorms going into peoples rooms and we think you’re stealing stuff because stuff is going missing.” And we were like, “Well we didn’t steal anything and… our friend was in the dorm room go talk to her and you could see that clearly we went in there to say hi. Cause that’s what happened. So you’re making all this stuff up and you’re trying to get us expelled. So I guess that’s my story. That was the negative side of going to boarding arts school. The positive side of it was… I made some really amazing friends there that I still keep in touch with. And they are all doing really incredible art projects or they’re comedians or photographers or filmmakers or dancers or performance artists. And they are all really really cool people. I’m… I can’t even tell you how grateful I am for that experience. To have had that experience. Like I said there were some definite downsides to being in that environment. It was a very difficult time in my life. But it also gave me a lot of clarity on who I was and what I wanted out of life. So again, I’m very grateful for having that one year experience. I didn’t go back because of the situation of the school obviously trying to get me and my friends expelled. I was afraid that was going to happen and my parents were going to lose their money. My parents at the time, did not have a lot of money. Or.. much money at all. To be honest, one of them refinanced their house to get me into the school. So I didn’t want that to happen. And I knew that if I went back I would probably be expelled for something that I quite possibly didn’t even do. I ended up going back to public school. I realized that I had been in this crazy environment where I was learning history through art and that was not the case in public school. So I went to charter school and finished the last two years of high school in one year. Graduated early and then went to college. So that’s my story time story. There was a lot happening there. That’s all I got. So if you liked the story or want to hear more about my boarding school experiences please subcsribe. Like this video. And we will talk soon. Bye. “I don’t care. I’m twelve years old” “I really don’t care what happens in my life ever.” So I didn’t buy any tickets and then I thought… Maybe I should just go by myself because… I live like 2 hours away from where it is.
