If you’re like me and look forward to visiting loved ones overseas… …then, before each trip, you probably make a list of all the things you want to do. Like celebrating with the family… Reconnecting with old friends… And visiting favorite places. But in order for me to do anything on that list, during my trip I must do everything on my “healthy travel checklist”. Before each trip, I always visit my healthcare provider. I take all the medicines he prescribes with me, especially malaria pills if I need them. I wash my hands frequently, especially before meals and eat only fully-cooked food that is served piping hot. drink only beverages that are bottled and sealed. Forget the ice you never know what water its made from! To avoid mosquitos, I use insect repellent with an approved ingredient like DEET I wear long-sleeved shirts, pants, and shoes that cover my feet… … and at night, I use a mosquito net. I stay away from overcrowded buses. In cars, I always wear a seatbelt… …and on bicycles or motorbikes, I always wear a helmet. Because if I forget to do any of these things, I might not get to have those great times! Learn more about staying healthy by visiting our website.
